Ask Yourself

When you next catch yourself about to do something you may regret or feeling something you don't want to feel try asking yourself any of the following:

  1. Do I want this thought, feeling or behaviour?
  2. How will I feel in one hours time?
  3. Is this based on facts or feelings?
  4. What is the underlying reason for my decision?
  5. Are my feelings based on facts or the incident?

Most of the time this will shift the needle from emotional to rational.
